West Bromwich Albion Women's welcomed Burnley Women's to the Hawthorns on Mother's day this day in what was a thrilling match that made for an intense watch for everyone in attendance.

Coming off the back of a 2-1 victory in their last game against Huddersfield Town, the team went into the game with confidence against third placed Burnley who were also in fine form and coming off the back of a victory. A win for West Brom would see them extend the gap from the bottom half of the table and with home advantage on a Special Sunday, everything looks set for them to put up a good fight against Burnley.

Families and fans seized the opportunity to celebrate Mothers Day with a midday kick-off as they cheered on their teams in what was a vibrant and busy atmosphere at the stadium. Mascot - Boiler man was the draw of the afternoon as everyone waited for kick-off at the concourse. Fans also kept an eye for the scores on the Men's team which had kicked off earlier as they gathered round the tv for updates.

West Brom broke the deadlock a few minutes after Kick-off after the ball was crossed into the penalty area which caused a big scramble but West Brom's phoebe Warnock snuck in and scored with the classic poachers finish. The crowd at the stands celebrated and cheered on the goal as the team got off to an exciting start.

West Brom controlled the game well and were able to withstand major attacks from Burnley holding the1-0 lead into halftime. Things were looking promising for Head coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still's side as they were now 45 minutes away from a win against a tough opponent like Burnley.

A second half strike from Burnley striker Amy Kelly dampened the hopes of the Baggies with the match now levelled at 1-1. Both teams battled it out for the remainder of the match to see who would come out on top and leave with all 3points, and after an all action second half, the match concluded with a 1-1 draw as the players embraced in a show of respect after the full-time whistle.

West Brom Head Coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still spoke highly of her teams performance and also thanked all fans in attendance for a special mothers day turnout at the Hawthorns. " Amazing, we appreciate the fans coming here. It was mothers day, it hasn't stopped raining and for the amount of fans that we got here, we appreciate them and we hope to see them again."
