On Wednesday, May 15, the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign group (PSC) organised a protest in support of the agonising people of Palestine. The war that is entering its seventh month has seen the people of Gaza suffer atrocities such as famine, death, displacement, malnourishment, unrest, and grievous injuries that has seen thousands of people suffer unbearable amputations, with women, children, the elderly and disabled, through no fault of their own, bearing the brunt, the most.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign stood between the buildings of the Wolverhampton city council and the University of Wolverhampton to voice out their frustrations, while security forces stood by to ensure the peaceful protest did not turn escalate into chaos. In a Uniform voice, they shouted ‘we will not stop, we will not rest’. While some of the placards they held read, ‘free Palestine’, ‘stop arming Israel’ and ‘end Israel occupation’.

The placard that stood out among the rest was ‘stop banking Israel’. This was a direct shot at Barclays bank, which is alleged to be sponsoring the state of Israel. The Wolverhampton city council was also not left out. The participant demanded the council to divest and end any form of relationship with Israel.
