The 13th to the 19th of May has been set aside to raise awareness on Dementia. This year's Dementia action week campaign which commenced on an educative note was aimed bringing people together to tackle dementia diagnosis rates. With the increasing number of Dementia cases worldwide, where over 50 million people are said to be diagnosed with it and about 60% of them living in low and middle income countries, it is only essential that people have more insight about this.

The programme which took place in Wolverhampton had agencies like health watch Wolverhampton, community action network, McCarthy Stone, Community Fund, Wolverhampton homes, Admiral nurses and Newcross hospital care home in attendance, to share some tips and advice, and help make the programme an informative one.

The service of some Churches was also used as a medium of public education in order to reach people far and wide who may have little or no knowledge at all about this syndrome. The Vicar of St. Phillip's church Wolverhampton, Reverend Peter, graced the programme. Other faith groups played a vital role in the success of the events. The three times elected councillor for Penn, who also champions and advocates for human rights values, reiterated on the need to pay attention to family or friends and look after ourselves.

With over 944,000 people suffering from Dementia, and the the elderly being the most vulnerable, it is only necessary that, programmes like this are organised very often in all facets of the country. And also, funds are raised for the purpose of supporting the impoverished who do not have the ability to cater for this syndrome.
